He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Ritter, Sr. and Lucille Ritter; and his siblings, Thelma Goins, Mary Lee Wynn, Carmel Hall and Leroy Ritter, Jr. (Ira).

He is survived by: his friends, Stanley Turrentine, Walt Harper and Roger Humphries; his wife Mary Ann; his children, Vicki Sheffey Jeter (Eugene), Rochelle Chatman (Boston), Ira Ritter, Jr. (Jennifer) and Michelle Ritter-Crawford (Frederick); his grandchildren, Rashad Gray, Aneesha Rutherford, Iovanna Ritter, Ira Ritter, III and Roderick Rutherford, Sr.; his great grandchildren, McKenzie Page, Avayah Freeman, Roderick Rutherford, Jr. and Amarie Rutherford; his siblings, Kenneth Ritter, Sr. and Yvonne Gibbs; and his sisters-in-law, Marie Francis, Diane Stotts and Linda Stotts. He is also survived by daughters, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

“I will never forget the love and warm embrace my dear cousin Ira showed me during the Ritter Fellowship Reunions. Whenever Pittsburgh hosted, it was done with class. I loved attending the Pittsburg reunions with my Ritter cousins. I regret I cannot be with you in person to share in your grief, so I send my prayers on the wings of angles. Ira's absence from us means he's in the presence of God; we will see Ira again. May he rest with the ancestors. Much Love from your cousin in Buffalo”
