He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry W. Strickland and Ollie Mae Graham; his former wife Joyce Strickland; and his grandchildren, Shawn Johnson and Deshawn Strickland.
He is survived by: his wife Sandrea Strickland of Dade City, Florida; his children, Joe Lee Strickland Jr. (Georgia), Latressa Strickland, Eddie A. Strickland, Tyrone Strickland, Daniel Strickland (Michelle), Barbara Strickland, Dorothy Strickland and Tamiko Vaughns; his stepchildren, Janarrion Sirmons, Brittney Sirmons and Qushawna Hamilton; his siblings, Ruby Payne Elizbeth Bess (Adam), Henry Strickland (Chau Le), Yjuania Jenkins (Eliax Jr.) and Dewitt Strickland (Carla); his mother-in-law Arnetha Sirmons; and his close friends, James McKnight, Gertha Sims, Sandra of Washington and Marquis Hilery. He is also survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
