He is survived by: his wife Karen Ayers-Simmons; his daughter Kimberly Michelle Adams (Jim); his grandchildren, Joshua VanSoest, Jacob VanSoest, Trey Vansoest and Ashley Rutter (Kyle); his great grandchildren, Alice Schalk and Adalyn Rutter; and his sister Ovaleen Mercer.
