He was predeceased by: his siblings, Barbara Roark and Charles McKelvain. He is survived by: his wife Martha Sue McKelvain; and his daughters, Sue Ellen Fields and Tammie Kay Shramek. He is also survived by one sister, Ida Marie McKelvain-Styles, and 5 grandchildren.
