Betty Jean Riggs Obituary

Betty Jean Riggs, 91, of Crystal River, Fl., passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Cypress Cove Care Center in Crystal River, Fl.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Strickland Family Cemetery with Rev. Warren Gilpin officiating.

Born on November 02, 1930, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Steven Strickland and Georgia Tillman Strickland. Mrs. Riggs worked for Pixie Playmates as a child clothing pattern maker for 35 years and she also taught sewing for 10 years at The Pinellas County Jail in the evenings. She graduated from Moultrie High School and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings; Jay Strickland, Lester Strickland, Cecil Strickland, Paul Strickland, Elige Strickland, Marion Strickland, Donald Strickland, Josie Oldham, Bertha Snipes, Willie Beasley and Cretus Vinson.

Mrs. Riggs is survived by her children, Gregory Riggs and Mary Ann Riggs; grandchildren, Steven, Patrick, Ryan, Sara; great-grandchildren, Hanley, Nataley, Owen, Gwyneth, Maya, Jackson; sibling, Margie Vickery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
