She was predeceased by: her parents, James Fortune and Gladys Fortune; her sister Kathy Hamm; her grandson Kyle Lewis Benefield Kelly; and her grandparents, Pennilee, Freely Fortune, Fred and Estelle Barnes.

She is survived by: her husband Curtis Carroll Benefield; her children, Leslie Lee (Michael), Brandy Gramling (Jamie), Curt Benefield (Jennifer), Aundrea Watson (Clint) and Candace Shores (Danny); her sisters, Dottie (Jim Acosta), Debora (Alford Gay), Rene Mathis, Glenda Cogburn and Thelma (Gary Barnes); and her aunts, Faye Harrison of Round Lake and Evelyn Syfrett of Round Lake. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the Round Lake Community Cemetery.
