He was predeceased by: his parents, Gabriel Velez and Blanca Velez; and his siblings, Blanca, Fernando, Amparo, Ramiro and Gabriel.
He is survived by: his wife Rosa Ines; his sister Silvia Rodriguez (Jose); his children, Lilliana DeFranco (Vincent) and John Paul Velez (Daniela); and his grandchildren, Jack, Samantha DeFranco, Gabriela and Natalia Velez. He is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, and long-time family friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would deeply appreciate memorial contributions be made in memory of Leon to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital or the World Central Kitchen.
