He was predeceased by: his parents, William G. Sawyer and Sheila Burnell Sawyer. He is survived by: his siblings, Carlene Sawyer (David Revels), Douglas Sawyer (Liane) and William G. Sawyer Jr.; his niece Bridget Sawyer-Revels; and his nephew Matthew Sawyer.
