He was predeceased by: his siblings, Jennie Henning, Walter Sweeting, Everette Sweeting, George Sweeting, Willie Sweeting, Viola Sweeting, Earl Sweeting and Junior Sweeting; his nephews, Kevin Sweeting, Jimmy Sweeting, Jerry Sweeting, Phillip Sweeting and George Jr.; and his parents, Gerald Sweeting and Mary Louise Russell.

He is survived by: his wife Lovell Sweeting; his children, Larry Sweeting and Linda C. Sweeting; his grandchildren, Charles Morehead, IV (Ashley Glenn Morehead), Parker Morehead, Chandler Lovelle and Luke Sweeting; his great grandchildren, Daphne and Magnolia Morehead; and his nieces and nephews, Cecil Levern Henning (Jackie), Jenny, Elizabeth, Catherine, Gary Pinder (Bonnie), Gail Mejicano (Nery), Anika, Nery, Ronald Pinder, Paula Waymier, Jennifer, Gerald Sweeting (Vicky), Brandon, Brittany, Robert Sweeting, Steve Sweeting, Annette Sweeting, Brian Sweeting, Cynthia McLoughlin, Lenny Sweeting and Patrick "Pat" Sweeting.
