He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Helms and Eloise Helms; and his brothers, Howard and Richard Helms. He is survived by: his wife Vickie; his daughter Nikki; his son-in-law Tim; his grandchildren, Michael, Wyatt and Taylor; his brother David (Denise); and his siblings-in-law, Wanda Helms, Terri Helms and Dale Gordon (Donna). He is also survived by nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 21st 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Fred Hunter Funeral Home - Taft Street (6301 Taft St, Hollywood, FL 33024). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 21st 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Fred Hunter's Funeral Home (6301 Taft St, Hollywood, FL 33024).

“To Vickie and the entire Helms Family. Along with you, we also will miss a very special man. Don loved Jesus, Vickie, Nikki, Tim, his Grandchildren, his siblings and the rest of his extended Family. Don cared for everyone he met and certainly made sure to make others comfortable in his presence. He was a man of Faith and honored God through the way he lived his life.
