He was predeceased by: his wife Vernette "Stormy" Gentgen; and his daughter Mary Owens. He is survived by: his siblings, Edward Jensen and Claire Gentian; and his children, Bill McMurrough, James McMurrough (Deborah), Michael McMurrough, Jennifer Gentgen and Jeannie Miller. He is also survived by his many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
