He was predeceased by: his parents, Milt and Merle; his wife Ann; and his siblings, Billy "Wild Bill", Bobby "Cat Bird", Larry "Boo", Mary Helen and Anna Rae.

He is survived by: his son Johnny Douglas Blanton, Jr. (Patty); his grandson Logan; and his sister Wanda Faye. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
