He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklyn L. VanSlyke (Red) and Lettie Walden VanSlyke; and his sisters, Lettie Lee, Mary Bush and Linda Sanford.

He is survived by: his wife Lori VanSlyke (Groves) of Port St; and his brothers, Dave VanSlyke (Debra) of Thibidoux, LA and Dale VanSlyke (Debbie). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
