He was predeceased by: his former wife Annie Mae Byrd; and his son Alfonza Purdie. He is survived by: his wife Deloris Purdie of Cocoa; and his children, Brenda Kelly (Etienne) of Cocoa, Sherica Jordan (Amin) of Cocoa, Signe Rogers of Cocoa, Rosa McGee of Orlando, Grace Black of Tampa, Gilbert Byrd (Barbara) of Cocoa, Billy Byrd (Luctria) of Cocoa, Antonio Collins Jr. (Frederica) of Palm Bay and Carlton Collins (Tiarra) of Cocoa. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren.
