She was predeceased by: her parents, Hanley Hughes and Mildred Hughes; and her siblings, Burgett, Robert, David, Donald, Naomi and Lulabelle.

She is survived by: her husband Burdette Vanscoy; her children, Jennifer, Brenda and Fred; her former spouse Heimo "Hank" Lappalainen; her son-in-law Byron Uppercue; her granddaughters, Andrea Fischer, Jennifer Benigno (Fischer), Jordyn Vanscoy and Katie Uppercue; her great grandchild Timmy Mills; her sister Carol Ann Boggs (Walter) of Clinton, TN.; and also Olivia Benigno.
