He was predeceased by: his mother Carrie E. Simmons; and his brother Roger Simmons. He is survived by: his siblings, Sylvia Sites (Roger) of Petersburg, WV, Jerry L. Simmons (Stacey) of Petersburg, WV and Ricky A. Harold of Harrisonburg, VA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
