He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Strickland and Flora "Flo" Williams Strickland; and his grandparents, Edna, Ebing Johnson, Gladys and Joe Williams.
He is survived by: his children, Tracy Ortega of Labelle and Van Strickland of Labelle; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Chaz Ortega, Colman, Wayde and Damian Strickland; his great grandchild Madeline Strickland; his former wife Pat Fullard; his siblings, Dale Strickland of Belle Glade, Glenda Strickland of Belle Glade, Patricia Shays (Ed) of Clewiston, Vickie and Bryson of Mocksville, NC; and his aunts and uncles, Christine Harper, Wilma Mosley of Belle Glade, Lorene Mosley of Pahokee, Troy Williams of Pahokee, Doug Williams of Belle Glade and Leonard Williams of Tellico Plains, TN. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
