Robert Allan Dill Obituary
There once was a man from Springfield....He was a lover of Irish limericks and would get a kick out of someone writing one about him!
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert (Bob) Allan Dill (Clermont, Florida), born in Springfield, Massachusetts, who passed away on October 28, 2022, leaving to mourn family and friends.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Bob a diehard Boston sports fan. He spent his youth listening to the Red Sox on a tabletop radio and was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of seeing the Red Sox win the World Series when Boston won the championship in 2004 by sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was also an avid New England Patriots fan, travelling to New Orleans for their Superbowl in 1986 when they were trounced by the Chicago Bears. He never gave up, though and was elated when they went on to become a powerhouse during Tom Brady's career. He was a happy man.
Bob and Dotty Learned Dill (who passed away in 2020) were married on August 15, 1953 and spent the majority of their life in Wayland, MA where he worked for Raytheon. They moved to Clermont, FL in 1997 and soon were followed by family. He and Dotty were involved with Pastfinders Genealogy and the Cooper Memorial Library. They travelled extensively researching genealogy all over the world. Genealogy was a shared passion for them
He was never happier, though, than when he was with his family. He was a proud father to Steven Dill and his wife Laurie Nelson Dill along with their 2 sons, Christopher Dill and Eric DIll and his wife Camila of Bellingham, MA.
He is also survived by his daughter, Terry Nelson and her husband Steven Nelson of Clermont, FL, their children, Brian Nelson and his wife Abby Nelson of Maitland, FL and Heather Tomassian and her husband, Clifford Tomassian of Leesburg, FL. His great grandchildren who were the light of his life, Jacquelyn and Amy Tomassian and Dagny and Blake Nelson. We will all miss his amazing sense of humor and his love for family.
A private memorial will be held at a later date with his immediate family.
