He was predeceased by: his parents, Allan F. Belden and Annunziata "Tina" Belden (DiVirgilio). He is survived by: his fiancée Jo Anne Ginley; his children, Alison Bengochea (Matt), Brett Belden (Kate), Jane Yang (Richard) and Carrie Alario (Tom); and his siblings, Joan Pierce (Michael), Neal Belden (Mary), Diane Belden-Rosenthal and Allan Belden (Carrie). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.

“I've known Gene since our days at UPS. We had great times and rides in his Vettes up in NJ. We had several conversations about retirement and I was happy when he decided to do so early. He enjoyed life, his Bakers-n-Cooks endeavor in Ocala, and loved having his family, loved ones and friends galore in his life. We eventually ended up in sunny Florida like Gene and welcomed his advice before doing so. He was a true mentor and friend. We'll miss you, Gene!”
