We are sad to announce that on June 27, 2020, at the age of 90, John Claiborne Purnell of Chipley, Florida, born in Red Level, Alabama passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Vernon Purnell and Stella Purnell; his wife Mary Louise; his children, Cynthia, Sandra P., John Keith and Grover Lee; and his grandchildren, Michael Maddox, Danielle Rangel, Tony Jimenez, Nicole Buzzelli, Matthew Celano, Stephen Purnell and Kyle Purnell.

The family is grateful for the faithful and loving care provided by Covenant Care Hospice, and request donations in honor of John's life, or instead of flowers.
