He was predeceased by: his parents, Daughty Williams Smitherman and Murk Lee Smitherman; and his siblings, Harold Granger, Phoebe Cook, Ann Peters and Margie Murray.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sarah Smitherman (Tom Robinson), Lindsey Smitherman-Brown and Caitlin Ubilla; his son-in-law Donoso Ubilla; his grandchildren, Ava, Caroline Robinson, Matilda, Noa Ubilla, Zelda Claire Brown and Fisher Brown; the mother of his children Jan Gilley Smitherman; his siblings, Bettye Gatson, Murk Smitherman (Cathy), Willie Smitherman (Arlene) and Debbie Young (Eddie); his pet Miss Kitty; and also Nick Brown.
A memorial service was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Chattahoochee (18 W Marion St, Chattahoochee, FL 32324).
