He was predeceased by: his parents, John Odom Cox Sr. and Era Lee Hamilton Cox; and his siblings, Jerry Paul Cox, Jewel Pridgen and John Odom Cox Jr..
He is survived by: his daughter Tricia Cox; his granddaughter Hannah Courtney (Donnie); his great grandchild Hudson Tyler Courtney; his son Jason Cox; his grandchildren, Nikki Cox, Miles Cox, Dalton Cox and Waylon Cox; and his sisters, Sarah Barlow (Lowell), Geneva Holcomb (Glatis), Becky Gandy (Bill) and Ruth Polston (Charlie). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Lewis Funeral Home (6405 US-90, Milton, FL 32570). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
All charitable donations should be made at Wind Creek Casino in Atmore, AL, at the machine of your choice-though James's favorite was the "So Hot Machine.". Please don't spend more than you can donate.
