He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edward Joshua and Ida Mae Gilchrist Cowen; his siblings, William Joshua, Daniel "Dan" Gilchrist, Sydney "Spurge" Spurgeon Cowen and Elizabeth "Liz" Mae Zorn (Cowen); his great grandchild Lily James Cowen; his significant other Frances Elizabeth Cowen (Brown); his daughter Linda Frances (Cowen); his son-in-law Bruce Ralph of Cantonment, FL; his grandchildren, Edward James "Jake" III, Jessen Cowen, Jamie Ralph, Jack, Carrie Cowen and Jaclyn Ralph; his great grandchildren, Edward James IV, Jack Jr. and Mary Charles Cowen; and his siblings, Joseph "Joe" Frederick, Kenneth "Ken" Alexander Cowen and Mary Emma (Cowen). He was also cherished by other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to COVID-19, there was an intimate graveside service for his family.
