He was predeceased by: his parents, John Douglass Hassell, I and Mary Ellen Holley; and his brother Leonard Scott Hassell. He is survived by: his wife Dixie Leann Hassell; his children, Megan Nicole Walters, Zachary Flint Hassell and John Douglass Hassell, II; his grandsons, K. David Walters, K. Bryant Walters, K. Gregory Walters and Charles Beresford Walters, III; and his great grandchildren, Leo Oliver Walters and Andorra Lynn Rosie Walters.
