He was predeceased by: his father R. T. Simmons; his stepparents, Harris Burney and Ann Simmons; his son Raymond Lee Simmons II; and his siblings, Raymond Lee Simmons, J. J. Simmons, Donny Burney, Wayne Burney and Janice Burney Pittman.
He is survived by: his wife Jessie Mae Thompson Simmons of Callahan; his sons, Jason Lee Simmons (Lisa) of Callahan and Robert Terrell Simmons, Jr. (Mandy) of Hilliard; and his siblings, Mary Ann Dell of Manor, Aline Johns of Nichols, Gloria Oliver of Hoboken, Louise Hall of Blackshear, Shirley Ann Wright of Eustis, James Robert Simmons, David Michael Simmons, James Burney and Sonny Burney. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren.
