He was predeceased by: his parents, Zack Lonzy Nelson and Annie "Blossom" Chesser Nelson; his wife Betty Lou Thomas Nelson; and his siblings, Earl Nelson, Lindsey Nelson, Wilma Guinn, Gladys Rowell, Della Hand and Beulah Burch.
He is survived by: his children, Vickie Lynn Nelson Henderson (David), Kimberly Sue Nelson Foster and Marty Lamar Nelson (Cheryl); his grandchildren, Jessica Marie Logan (Benny), Joshua David Henderson, Montie David Foster, Brittany Ann Foster, Mylon Edward Nelson (Kristen) and Stephanie Marie Nelson; his great grandchildren, Asher Logan, Aubree Jade Henderson, Hatti Grace Logan, Bodie Logan, Zane Wayne Nelson and Roger Wayne Nelson; and his sister Hazel Nelson Barker. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
