He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Finch Tanner, Sr. and Eula Tanner; his son Rodney Howell; his brothers, Donald Tanner and Oscar Tanner; and the mother of his children Bessie Tanner.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Tanner; his children, Bonnie Walden (Richard), Susan Miller, Kevin Kirkpatrick, Chuck Tanner, Kim Lester (John) and Kelly Peacock; and his sisters, Florence Maynor, Kathleen Simpson (Warren) and Janet Highfill. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
