He is survived by: his wife Mona Smith; his stepchildren, Thomas Wimberly, Stacie Whetzel, Carol Dunn and James Wimberly; his brothers, Michael David Smith and John Howell Smith; his cousin David Smith; and his close friends, Buford "Buddy" Powel and Vernon Worth. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren.
