He was predeceased by: his parents, Ena Quaal (Rooning) and Alfred Quaal; his brothers, Arnold, Gilbert, James and John "Robert"; his granddaughter Sara DCamp (Jarod); his son-in-law Bruce Smith (Sheri); his former wife Dorothy Sperling; and also Daniel Sperling (Paula).
He is survived by: his former wife Juanita Quaal (Floyd); his children, Sherilynn Smith, Richard Quaal Jr., Debra Nelson (Tom), Natalie Carlson (Bob), James Quaal (Lori), Jacqueline Brown (Curt) and Michelle Quaal; his nieces, Christine Vinson (Dave), Elizabeth Elton (Chuck) and Brenda Quaal; and also, Doug Sperling (Marsha), Diana Richards (Bruce) and David Sperling (Carol). He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
