“I served with Ivan during late 58 to Dec. 61. I was a SOS2 when we went on the Northern run from Sept. to Dec 1960. I crossed paths with him again as Weapons Officer on SSBN 641 and he was a Sublant briefer. And again at Sea Poacher reunions and then at his Villages USSVi base. Enjoyed sitting down with Ivan and Marjorie and just catching up. I had great respect for him as a naval officer and as a friend. My condolences to his extended family. Ron Godwin LCDR Ret. “I remember sharing the Conning Tower with Lt Joslin (Gun Boss) on many occasions while at sea. Mr. Joslin (Ivan) was a Lieutenant when I left the Navy in 1963. When we would meet at our Ship's reunions, I would always refer to him as Lieutenant Joslin. He would always remind me that he had retired as a Full USN Captain. “Ivan became my mentor 65 years ago on the Sea Poacher. We served together during the Cuban Missile Crisis and were at the center of the blockade. He was a factor in my staying in the Navy for 25 years. It was 40 years before we met again and it was like reuniting with a brother. Besides local reunions we traveled to Peru and even co-authored a book on our experiences. I will never forget him and extend my deepest sympathy to his family. A VERY FOND MEMORY IS HE AND I SITTING AT THE OPEN PLAZA IN CUSCO PERU SHARING FAMILY UPDATES AND SEA STORIES. HE WAS A KIND THOUGHTFUL MENTOR WITH STRONG CHRISTAIN VALUES.
