He was predeceased by: his parents, Guston Wade and Mintie Rowell Nettles; his children, Philip Ray Nettles and Robin Whittle; and his siblings, Billy Nettles, Verna Mae Youmans, Aileen Anderson, Geraldine Adams, Christine Wright, Louise Hall and Eva Ruth Goodin.
He is survived by: his children, Wade Verlon Nettles Jr. of Bryceville and Pamela Sotolongo (Ralph) of Jacksonville; his grandchildren, Jessica Grab (Ryan), Natasha Rider (Jared), Brossette and James Mull; his sister-in-law Beth Nettles-Fender of Bessemer, AL.; and his wife Joan Nettles. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
