Iona Lee Shumate Obituary
We are sad to announce that on May 6, 2023, at the age of 83, Iona Lee Shumate of Bryceville, Florida, born in Hemphill, West Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Tester and Rhoda Tester; her husband Robert Shumate; and her daughter Valerie Shumate. She is survived by: her children, Terri Boyd (Jimmy), Robby Shumate (Kim) and DeDe Hilaman (Doug); her grandchildren, Michelle Stewart (Dan), Stephanie Waddell (Jeff), Matt Boyd (Gayle), Brad Boyd (Jennifer), Mark Shumate, Thomas Shumate, Kevin Hilaman and Max Hilaman; her great grandchildren, Cole, Ethan Waddell, Lincoln, Owen, Emmeline Stewart, Ezra, Thea, Hosanna Boyd and Kailey Dimonda; her siblings, Alice Canaday (Bill), Charlotte Garvin and David Tester (Rose); her friends, Janie Colley and Linda Golden; and her caregivers, Cole, Stephanie and Dr. Fletcher.
Condolences can be sent thru donations to the United World Mission LLC supporting Matthew and Gayle Boyd #31415, to The St. Jude Children's Hospital, both of which were dear to Iona's heart or to Community Hospice at Baptist Nassau, the Jane and Bill Warner Center for Caring, who not only brought comfort to Iona in her last days but to her family as well.
