He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence R. Thornton and Leona Thornton (Boyd); his brothers, Earl Thornton (Estelle) and Willard Douglas Thornton (Anna Joyce); and his children, David C. Thornton, Lorie Lee Thornton and Mary Denise Hutto.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Thornton (Surrency) of Bryceville; his daughters, Dorothy Dee Gomillion (David) of Bryceville and Michelle Thornton of Bryceville; his grandchildren, David Gomillion (Brittany), Krissi Gomillion (Larry), Shane Gomillion (Tori), Sonny Aman (Beth), Christopher Thornton (Kendra), Jessie Aman (Reyna Roland), Brittany Hutto, Cody Hutto (Amber Watson) and Hailey Hutto (Reese Hollie); his great grandchildren, Charlotte Gomillion, Savannah Gomillion, Lauren Steinmeyer, Lane Gomillion, Lucas Gomillion, Raylon Aman, Tyler Aman, Aubrey Thornton, Lawson Aman, Shailey Williamson and Jayden Hutto; and his brother Jimmie Ray Thornton (Jean) of Jasper.
