He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace J. Oat and Frances Oat; and his stepson Carl J. Conaway Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Roberta May Oat; his stepchildren, Tammi L. Sartin (Mike), Michael J. Conaway (Lorena) and Michelle B. Cox (Carlisle); his grandchildren, Heather, Patrick, Bobby, Kristen, Shayleigh and Carlisle V; and his great grandchild Elle.

A burial was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Florida National Cemetery (6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513).
