He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ashton and Dorothy Goldup McClay. He is survived by: his wife Bettejane Oakes McClay of Branford, FL; his sons, James McClay (LisaMarie) of Clermont, FL and Steven McClay (Diana Brady) of Bethel, CT; and his siblings, Patricia Weaver (Fred) of Pittman, NJ and Roy McClay (Patricia) of Port Jefferson, NY. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren.
