She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Alverta Stidham and Walter Dewey Bolling; her former husband Allen E. Dowdy, Jr.; her daughter Gwen; and her siblings, Irene Robbins, Kenneth Bolling, Ivan Bolling and Dewey Bolling Jr..
She is survived by: her daughter Violet Cassie Dowdy; her husband Don; her children, Donald Wayne Tharpe and Cassie Smith (Marty); her granddaughter Crissie Perez (Bobby); and her great grandchildren, Tate Perez and Sloan Perez. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
