He was predeceased by: his parents, James Calvin Gentry and Ona Ruth Gentry (Sikes); and his brother Richard Gentry. He is survived by: his sons, Bryan (Sarah) and David (Caitlin); his wife Susan; his daughter Christine "Chrissy" (John); and his grandchildren, Jonathan, Julianna, Jessica, Katie and Emily.
