He was predeceased by: his father James "Bud" Allen; and his sisters, Kim (Ron Gapinski) and Tina (Paul Baucher). He is survived by: his wife Lucy; his mother Patsy (Larry Line); his children, Samantha (Diego Collazo-Garcia) and David James; and his brother James (Allen, Jr.).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to LifePath Hospice for all of their help and care for David.
