He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Sams and Lou Ester Sams (McCleadon); his wife Selestine Harris; his children, Willie Sams (Taneka), Cassie Sams, Demond Sams, Albany Sams, Ezra Simmons (Ida), Jori Simmons, Tacarra Simmons, Stephanie Joyner Vela (Oscar) and Garis Joyner (Rayna); his siblings, Bettye Stokeling, Joan Sams, Betty Moore (Robert), Ruth Saunders (Robert), Sylvester Sams, Thomas Sams, Gwendolyn Williams (Robert), Eva Brown (Roy) and Curtis Williams; and his aunt Joyce Aldridge (William). He was also cherished by eleven grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 8th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Skyway Mausoleum Chapel (5200 US-19, Palmetto, FL 34221). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 at 9:00 AM and at 10:00 AM.
