He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Carter (Bronson); his parents, Dorothy II and George Carter II; his son Donald Carter; and his sister Janet Dowler.

He is survived by: his children, Beverly Hickey (Terence) of Bradenton, FL, Linda DiNino (Robert) of Waterbury, CT and David Carter of Harwinton, CT; his brother-in-law Martin Dowler; and his cousin Eileen Eichler. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
