It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Robert Sloan in Bradenton, Florida, born in Utica, New York, who passed away on March 12, 2024, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph J Sloan and Mary Margaret Sloan (Pedergnana). He is survived by: his daughter Kimberly Joy Coonce; his son-in-law Rick Coonce of Lone Jack, Missouri; his granddaughters, Katherine Marie Groves and Kelly Nicole Coonce; his sisters, Barbara Jean Kogut and Patricia Joyce Dyer; his brother-in-law John Dyer; and his nieces and nephews, Mark, Christopher Kogut, Dr. Kelly Kogut, Amy Klempay, Arwyn Kogut and Bailey Massari. He is also survived by his family and his many friends.

“Don had a wonderful laugh which I can still hear in my head. We met at a golf course and our foursome played every Wednesday, enjoying a beverage afterward. After we had to stop playing golf, we talked by phone at least twice a month. He was tremendously proud of his daughte, Kim, who became an aircraft pilot, like her husband. He told me he served in the U.S. Army, in Germany, and later as an Air Marshall, Secret Service, and ATF agent. He served his country well. I will miss his friendship.”
