Sheila Rennick Obituary
Sheila passed away in Boynton Beach, Florida on January 18, 2019 with her adoring husband of 33 years, Peter, at her side. Predeceased by her parents, Barbara and Stuart Clow. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by siblings Graham, Heather, and Stuart and the extended families of the Rennicks and the Clows.
Sheila was born in Toronto, growing up in Hogg’s Hollow and attending York Mills Collegiate. She graduated from Western in 1972 and spent many years at Confederation Life. In 1985 she met Peter and together they began a new life in South Florida. She and Peter built a wide network of friends and workmates from the Palm Beach area, ION Media, and Landtech. Their home was always open as a welcome getaway for all of her and Peter’s northern relatives, including generations of siblings, nieces, and nephews. There was always a good supply of food, drink, and good conversation around the pool.
Sheila took great pride in her large garden and she and Peter spent many hours transforming it into an award-winning show place of native Florida plants. As an outgrowth of the gardening, she developed a keen interest in the life and welfare of Monarch butterflies and created an area for breeding that became a popular landing spot for the annual migration.
She was a great lover of animals and worked and volunteered for many years at the animal rescue shelters in Palm Beach County. Her three cats were a joy to her as was her long-time best friend Archie – a rather determined parrot who spent a good part of his life sitting on her shoulder intimidating and mimicking the cats.
Sheila fought very hard and bravely against the cancer that took her from us. Peter and the family wish to express thanks to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach and Vitas Healthcare for making her last days as comfortable as possible.
If desired, donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Sheila’s memory to any Humane Society or to another charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be left at Boynton Memorial Chapel, http://www.boyntonmemorial.com.
