He was predeceased by: his parents, Ina Zabel and Theodore Zabel; his brother Gary Zabel (Joan); his parents-in-law, Francis and Dorothy Gause; and his sister-in-law Laura Kaas.
He is survived by: his son Barry; his wife Linda; his sons, Barrett Zabel (Lindsey) and Samuel Zabel (Erika); his sisters, Susan Opsahl (David) and Debra Gibson (Bruce Syhre); his brothers-in-law, Joe Kaas and Michael Gause; and his stepfather-in-law Robert Eggers. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
