He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Eugene C Smith and Datha Adaline Smith; his wife Karolyn Jeanne Smith; his sons, Robert Chadwell Smith, Gregory Eugene Smith and Chad Smith; his granddaughter Zoe Adeline Louise Smith; his son Greg Smith; his daughter-in-law Kim Earhart Smith; his grandchildren, Tori Nicole Smith, Robert Cameron Smith and Sofia Smith of Virginia; his sisters, Sue Post and Sherry Brown (David); and his siblings-in-law, Gary Pigott (Pam), Rick Pigott (Nancy) and Debbie Martin (Mike).
