He is survived by: his wife Katherine Hoffman Smith; his sons, Christopher Smith of Portland, ME, Kevin Smith (Amy) of Hampstead, NC and Dan Smith (Denise) of Wilmington, NC; and his brother Paul Smith. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
