She was predeceased by: her son Ricky Carter; and her siblings, Lenard Smith, Cecil Smith, Louice Hutchins, Olie Smith and Daris Penton.
She is survived by: her husband William B. Carter; her daughters, Patricia Suggs (Charles) and Connie Batchelor (Steven); and her sisters, Awanda Corbin and Voncile Roland. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
