He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Ellen and Ann Ellen; his brother Mark Ellen; and his brother-in-law Arthur Mahler. He is survived by: his wife Judy Ellen; his children, Daniel Ellen and Joanie Ellen (Alexander Mugar Klein); his grandsons, Roscoe Oshin Ellen-Klein and Clyde Akiba Ellen-Klein; and his sister Suzanne Mahler.
