He is survived by: his wife Jane; his sons, David Mandell (Sheila) and Kenneth Mandell (Jackie); and his grandsons, Zachary Mandell and Harrison Mandell.

“It is with great shock and sadness when I first heard of Dr. Mandell's passing. We first met on a professional level when he and his business partner travelled to Pittsburgh to recruit me to work in their new startup, AMRADNET, almost 19 years ago. He was always talking about cutting edge technologies and also would share a story or two of testing technologies that were considered cutting edge years ago. He was truly a fascinating guy and I will miss him. My sympathies to his wife and family.”
