He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John S. Sawaya and Martha C. Sawaya; his sister Mary Martha Sawaya Hilley; his nieces, Jennifer Leigh Hilley and Karen Elaine Hilley-Tittle; and his nephew Daniel Jonathan Hilley. He was also cherished by close friends, extended family, and children.

He would motivate us to come to tutoring with donuts which was such a kind gesture for many students. I appreciate all that he did for our class and the great memories we share with him!”

I also saw him regularly at my parent’s pool store after graduation and he always talked with me and shared his support of my college studies, offering his advice on my future endeavors. His passing came as a shock to me as I had just seen him a week prior and my heart goes out to his loved ones. He’s inspired and changed many lives in years.”
