He was predeceased by: his parents, George Daniel and Mattie Jordan Tidwell; his sisters, Clara Klippstein and Anne McLean; his sister-in-law Barbara Tidwell (Darlene Tidwell); and his nephew Rodney Hewett.

He is survived by: his son Chris Tidwell; his brothers, George Tidwell (Rhonda), Thurman Tidwell, Allan Tidwell and Robert Tidwell (Lisa); and his granddaughter Shelbi Tidwell.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hickory Grove Freewill Baptist Cemetery Fund.
